On March 1st We Are Laying Floral Hearts Across America
A FLOOD OF FLORAL HEARTS
Please join with us to recognize March 1st as a National Day of Mourning, by volunteering to create a floral heart, lay a floral heart or donate to help others lay and create hearts.
Please visit the map here where you can click on each heart to find out more about where to find floral hearts, who is organizing, and who designed each heart: https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1dOiKRmMaLxp2g9aOe_Vs9w4QLoz2-uLV&usp=sharing
The National Day of Mourning for COVID-19 is orchestrated by Marked by COVID. For more, please visit: www.markedbycovid.org.
We need to create spaces of healing and memorial now.
One solution: public COVID memorial gardens.
CAN YOU HELP SUPPORT OUR COMMUNITY?
Let's Bring More Hearts to More Cities
“We need to have that safe space and community to support those that have lost someone or have known of someone that has passed. Because right now it feels like people have gone through it, but they don’t feel safe to talk about it.” - Luz Maria Vargas, a Chicago volunteer, in Block Club Chicago
"Losing my mom was the hardest thing..., we can't bring our loved ones back, but we can make sure their memory lasts forever or lives on," Melissa Harriman on NewsCenterMaine.
CAN I GET INVOLVED IN THE PROJECT?
Yes! The Floral Heart project is nationwide and we'd love to have your help. We encourage anyone to make a floral heart and have videos and tutorials so that you can easily do this in your community. You can find a full toolkit here. If that seems too complicated, you can a.) fundraise to have a floral heart brought to your community or b.) reach out about a donation to your community.
IS MY DONATION TAX DEDUCTIBLE?
Yes, the Floral Heart Project is supported by Fractured Atlas a 501c3 that helps artists raise money to support their causes.
